Past to Present Nidderdale YFC

The Nidderdale Young Farmers Club was founded in November 1932 and has run every year since apart from 1940 to 1945 when there weren't any meetings due to the war. Originally there were 10 members: G Fred Harker; John Simpson; Walker Barrett; Henry Barrett; Edith King; Alan Iveson; Dorothy Parker; John Parker; J Edwin Horner and Dorothy Hirsch and the Club Leader and Chairman of the Advisory Committee was F B Hirsch Esq of Dacre.

Major F B Hirsch was the longest standing President, holding the post for 20 years, the longest serving Chairman is Peter Gratton who has held the post for 7 years, although these were not consecutive and Mr F G Summersgill was a club leader for 15 years.

We have taken various snippits of information together with photographs from the scrapbooks over the years, these have been broken down into sections as shown. See if you can put names to faces on the photographs, then mouse over the picture and the ALT tag will show the names on. There are some blank spaces where we have been unable to identify a face, if you can help out with a name then please e-mail janette@webbeginnings.co.uk so that we can update the information. If you have any photo's that you feel would be of interest please contact us so that we can include them in the site, where possible we would need the year and names of the people in the photo and what was happening - all material will be returned to you.
